X-Culture Global Symposium

Universities are welcome to apply to host an X-Culture Global Symposium.

Information on prior X-Culture Symposia can be found here.

As a host, you will enjoy the following benefits:

  • Welcome a large international group of top-notch students from around the world.
  • Raise the university profile in the international academic and professional communities. .
  • Recruit applicants to graduate programs.
  • Engage your own students in internationally-recognized programs.
  • Promote research-related activities.
  • A wonderful public relations opportunity.
  • A reason to reach out to local businesses, get them involved in the Symposium, but then continue using the partnership to attain your academic goals.

Host universities will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Ability to provide meeting space, including classrooms or conference rooms for presentations and round tables, rooms with open space for social and networking events, etc.
  • Arrange for a company tour involving a meeting with the company top management, tour of the facilities, information session about the business model, etc. Typically, one company would be the main partner, but tours of more companies could be arranged.
  • Arrange a panel session with CEOs of other successful local companies, possibly also involving community leaders, politicians, entrepreneurs who can share their wisdom with the students.
  • Arrange for lodging, either through the on-campus dormitories or at a local hotel that could offer preferred pricing for the Symposium attendees.
  • Arrange for transportation to and from the company visits, etc.
  • Arrange for food and refreshments throughout the event.

As with conferences and conventions, it is expected that the Symposium attendees will pay a participation fee that will cover the cost of organizing the event. The preference will be given to the host universities that can find ways to make the necessary arrangements at a reasonably low cost to the attendees.

All host university applications will be reviewed by the X-Culture Strategic Advisory Board, with up to three applications approved annually. Please send your statement of interest in hosting an X-Culture Global Symposium to Dr. Vas Taras at v_taras@uncg.edu so we can discuss it further.
